Web wars have always been an internal feature of the Internet, attracting no interest from anyone in real life. The five-day war revealed, however, that the web is as good a front as the traditional media, with warfare being conducted on a much wider scale and in real time. August 2008 has been the time when virtual-reality conflicts were formed, and when it was acknowledged that the war should embrace the information field, too. The book is meant for everyone willing to find out the particulars of the August 2008 information war.

You are holding the «White book» of the ethnic cleansings of the Ossetian people by Georgia. The conflict has been smoldering for a long time. In 1830 the Russian government has given an unambiguous verdict with regard to the matter: the Georgians do not have any rights to the South Ossetia. Stalin in his favorite manner of laying time-bombs on the borders between the neighboring people has sacrificed the Ossetians in favor of the Georgian SSR. In 1938 the Ossetian alphabet was replaced with the Georgian script. Starting from 1949 the entire educational process in Ossetian schools, including the primary classes, was converted into Georgina language. Following the attack on the language came the attack on the people. The events of 1991 have been overshadowed with the skirmish between Gorbachev and Eltsin that kept Moscow unaware of what was going on in the South. Zviad Gamsahurdia encountered little resistance. According to the 1989 USSR population census there were 164 thousand Ossetians living in Georgia. By 2002 only 38 thousand Ossetians remained in Georgia. In 2008 the Ossetians had to run again, this time from South Ossetia. Thirteen years of attempts to establish peace in the region seemed a little too much for Mikhail Saakashvili and Georgia declared war against South Ossetia.

To struggle against terrorism by capturing suspects, keeping them in jail without trial and subjecting them to tortures – such is the strategy of CIA in the 21st century. It was only by accident that the entire system came to light, including a network of secret jails and unregistered ways of communication between them. Gaining momentum, the public scandal led to discovery of an extensive transcontinental plot in which governments of many countries appeared to be involved. The fates of illegal CIA prisoners, broken by this counterterrorist system, were no more enviable than those of victims of most horrible terrorists.

The decision to create NATO's secret armies was taken in the middle of the 20th century, more than 50 years ago. At that time, Europe, after freeing from the Nazi dictatorship, realized that it might find itself under the heel of a Communist totalitarian dictatorship. After the defeat of the Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union was establishing control in one European country after another. The fear of Soviet occupation forced Western countries to start training subversive guerilla brigades.

The book offers a new view of the tide of "international Islamic terrorism" that engulfed Russia in recent years. The author names people who most probably ordered the terrorist attacks in various Russian cities and abroad - in particular, in Beslan. Being one of the leading oil-producing countries, Russia has become hostage to the new confrontation. The prices of Russian oil depend on the country's stability, and terrorist attacks will continue to be carried out until a new world leader emerges.
