Kashin Oleg
Journalist. Born in 1980 in Kaliningrad. Graduated from the Baltic Fishing Fleet State Academy, Kaliningrad with the qualification of machinist-captain. Has yachted twice on «Kruzenschtern» sailing ship in the capacity of deck and navigational trainee. Took part in international sailing regattas and reporting on these events in Kaliningrad newspapers. Back on shore he worked at «Komsomolskaya Pravda» newspaper in Kaliningrad moving to Moscow in 2003.
Worked in «Kommersant» and «Izvestiya» newspapers. While in «Kommersant» he was covering the issue of youth political protest. Has been arrested several times during the radical leftist youth street action. Winner of the journalist competition «Abuse Legitimized» organized by the «Open Russia» Foundation. For some time he was thought to be the opposition youths shadow ideologist. Is well-known as one of the most widely read Russian bloggers. Starting from September 2004 he is writing a column titled «Life ever-present» for «Russky Zhurnal».
From 2005 he is working as columnist in «Expert» magazine and is regularly contributing to various Internet publications.
